Renewed Transboundary Certificate

Pasvik-Inari Transboundary Area re-certified as a EUROPARC Transboundary Park

The Pasvik-Inari TBA, comprising of five protected areas in Norway and Finland, has been re-certified as EUROPARC Transboundary Park for 2025-2029, following a successfull audit by the EUROPARC Federation.

Cooperation in the Pasvik-Inari area was first established as a Trilateral Park in 2008, this as a result of long-lasting cooperation between the nature protection authorities in Norway, Finland and Russia, dating back to early 1990s. Since 2022, the cooperation has continued bilaterally between Norway and Finland under the name Pasvik-Inari Transboundary Area, following the end of trilateral work with Russia due to the war in Ukraine.

Despite challenges, the partnership remains strong and was re-certified by the EUROPARC Transboundary programme
